Peripheral IV Insertion Workshop

This program is designed for nurses and nursing students who wish to improve their technique and success when starting peripheral IVs.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Describe and identify the vascular anatomy related to peripheral veins
  • State four appropriate methods for the assessment and distention of veins for peripheral catheterization
  • Demonstrate the basic steps involved in the insertion of a peripheral IV catheter
  • Implement accepted standards of care for peripheral IV catheters
